about

Written: July 2016. Final song written for the album. Chose art punk – like early one-minute Cardiacs songs.
What’s with the misgendering? Because while it’s not much better than deadnaming, I’m not revealing government-issued identities unlike certain alt-right pundits. It’s also a way for me to differentiate between different narrators.
I’ve been enamored by this band called Insane Clown Posse. Not because they’re good – no, not in the slightest – but because they have this technique of writing songs from different perspectives. Sure, Springsteen, Gabriel and Dylan did it before (and better), but they usually switched from perspective to perspective in order to capture the totality of an event and peoples’ reactions to it. ICP sticks to one perspective as to lock in the listener and make them live in an ill mind. I wanted to try that with the rise of alt-right personalities, especially in how Kiwi Farms users tended to misgender (and deadname) Jacob Hope Chapman and Brianna Wu out of a belief that the right to transition/the right to have your own identity other than the one your parents gave you is something you have to earn by fitting in with the rest of society. Not that it helps – they’ve been placing a lot of liberals and transwomen in the lolcow pile as of recently – but this belief that identity has to be earned and not God-given scares me. It’s Orwellian at its core – you’re assigned a name and you have to stick to it.

lyrics

SHE must be faking it. SHE’s done stupid stuff for money. SHE must be faking it, therefore “he” is a SHE. Chicago drama queens in cahoots with this GIRL with short hair. This “boy” never had a peen – no right to identity.

With the truth we’ll jam the air against the culture cuckholded. This Augustine Iago who judges fair, he says “you’re all sick, sickness unfolded.”

HE must be faking it. HE went Binx and Trig at Hot Wheels. HE must be faking it. HE’s on the run from those HE’s killed. HE has the online-only Ween album. HE made a shitty game – now HE must pay. We know HE’s kept his peen – no right to identity.

With the truth we’ll jam the air against the culture cuckholded. This Augustine Iago who judges fair, he says “you’re all sick, sickness unfolded.” But I have no hate: none by far. I love the blonde Greaseball
