lyrics

by Billy Degge

He performs in front of audience, his vibrato trembles in cadence
She watches from cashmere, he does what she fear
Just a boy made of meat, leaves her fire a sleet
His charm holds her blue, wishing herself into two

Crushed she is gone, attempt to forget through song
Lacking her sense of purpose, feet stumbles onto night bus
Desire coursing through her veins.
Panic ensures her lost.

I tried, to help you
I tried, to perfect you
And yet, I upset you.
And yet, He neglect you.
Too scared, to lose you.
Too weak, to protect you.
Maybe, one day
I’ll help, in some way.
We’ll laugh, together.
Whatever, kind of weather.
Till then, Sweetheart
I’ll never, be too far apart

Enveloped in pain
And defiled by the shame
She weeps coolly and truly alone.
Tears drift down face in complete lack of grace
The mire grows a little larger, no matter how I nudge her

Thoughts spawn and crawl around her
Laura is late, vision distorted by hate
To an event so fun, she need not see her sun
He’ll regret everything, as he’s a charlatan king.
Deep down a bit of her is notched.

I tried, to help you
I tried, to perfect you
And yet, I upset you.
And yet, He neglect you.
Too scared, to lose you.
Too weak, to protect you.
Maybe, one day
I’ll help, in some way.
We’ll laugh, together.
Whatever, kind of weather.
Till then, Sweetheart
I’ll never, be too far apart
